We do offer binding and non-binding estimates. While most interstate estimates are binding, there may be some circumstances such as crowded storage units or sheds that are difficult to judge which require a non-binding estimate.

How soon can someone be out to the home?
How soon are you moving? We check the area manager’s calendar right now while you are the phone. He/She has appointment openings on such and such a date at these times. If needed sooner, i.e. evening or Saturday, we would check with area manager for availability.

Transit time on interstate shipments?
Your transit time for your household goods depend on several factors including weight, date of move, the distance of the move, and the time of year. If pressed, the average transit time is usually 5-10 days (again, depending on your individual circumstances).

I need some info on moving?
Certainly, we will be glad to answer any general questions you have right now. If you are moving soon, we suggest our area manager come to your home and provide a free estimate while answering any questions specific to your move.

When will I receive my estimate?
Normally the area manager will be able to print your estimate in your home during his visit with you.

How far in advance do I need to schedule my move with you?
This of course depends when you are moving and where you are moving to. It is also based on the information you give us. Without estimate dates usually, 1-2 week notice is sufficient. Certain holiday times and periods of the year may have restrictions.

Why is an in-home survey required?
Federal Regulations do require an in-home survey. Even without this regulation, Horizon United has always required a survey.  While we have moved thousands of families over the years, although there are a lot of similarities with all moves, we have found that no two moves are exactly alike. And, in order to give you as accurate an estimate as possible and provide you with answers to your specific needs, we would have to personally see what is moving and more importantly listen to what your needs are.

It is Tuesday. I want to move by this weekend (inter) is this something you can do?
While this is short notice, we are glad to check availability with our operations and United headquarters. We may have to arrange for a local crew to pack and load your belongings and bring them to our warehouse for loading on the United interstate truck next week.

How much notice for loading?
This of course depends when you are moving and where you are moving to. It is also based on the information you give us. Without estimate dates usually, 1-2 week notice is sufficient. Certain holiday times and periods of the year may have restrictions.

How much for packing a few things?
Your area manager will be happy to answer that during his visit. In fact, he will be able to quote you on different packing options and you will be able to choose what is best for you.

What is the senior discount?
The pricing the area manager will give you on your estimate will include all discounts available to you based on your individual circumstances.

How long will it take to get to destination, can I pick my date?
Your transit time for you household goods depends on several factors including weight, date of the move, distance of the move, and the time of year. If pressed for time, the average transit time is usually 5-10 days. Again, this is depending on your individual circumstances. The area manager will be able to give you the options of picking a date or date range if available, based on your needs and the details of your move.

I’m just looking for ball park quotes.
While we must do a visual survey prior to doing an official estimate, we are glad to provide a ball park quote. Please understand, there is no way to be accurate until the area manager can visit with you, complete the survey, and ask what your specific needs are.

What type of coverage is included?
As a van line, we provide some coverage against damages. We provide 60 cents per pound per article. We also offer additional coverage that the area manager will share with you.

Can you move just a few pieces?
We do have a 2100 minimum weight. The area manager could call you and go over your shipment needs and options. Would you like a ball park estimate based on the minimum weight?

Will my furniture stay on the same truck that it was loaded into?
Normally yes, unless a shipment needs storage either here or at your destination. In the rare case where a driver cannot pick up your household goods on the agreed date (mechanical issues or scheduling conflicts) then Horizon would send a professional crew to your home and bring everything to a dock to wait for the interstate truck.

Will there be other people’s things on the truck with mine?
Typically an interstate van holds 2-3 shipments on the truck. Our precise inventory and separation process ensures all of your shipment will be delivered to your new home.

Is insurance included in my move?
We are required to provide a minimum of 60 cents per pound per article valuation that covers damages to your items while in our care. We do offer optional increased valuation protect. If you can tell us exactly what is going, we can help you with the estimate for a minimum weight or provide with some other options.  The area manager could also call you and go over your shipment needs if you prefer.

Can I put some boxes in the trunk/inside of my car?
Regulations do prohibit placing items not belonging to the vehicle inside of it for shipment.

Do you ship cars?

Do you ship to other countries? Internationally?

Our SV warehouse is concrete block construction. This type of construction meets US Military and International codes. While not temperature controlled , the warehouse has a heating system for winter and the construction design helps maintain reasonable temperatures in the summer.

Are goods stored at one location or do we have multiple locations?
In SV we have over 30,000 square ft of storage and that has always been sufficient for customers requesting storage here, we do however have 4 other locations in the state that we could utilize for local storage if requested and we are affiliated with agents all over the country if you require storage in another state.
